The governance of St Ultans is notable in that it has journeyed through significant learning and development since it opened in 2007. The campus would ideally like one overseeing board, however we are restricted by the Education Act from doing so. Therefore St Ultans has two boards, one for the St Ultans Primary School (Constituted as per the education act) and St Ultans Childcare Project (A company Limited by guarantee and a registered charity) which runs the Early Years, Care & Services Functions.

There is a common chairperson, and joint meetings between both boards are held every quarter.

St Ultans also has a service and administrative function which supports both legal entities.

The following are commendable features of St Ultans governance structures and processes:

• Strong Boards (with range of skills and experience and commitment to the Model)

• Collaborative and communicative campus management structure

• Three Campus Managers working together with complementary skill sets

• Hard working and enthusiastic staff who have bought into the St Ultans approach

• Openness to evaluations and model enhancement

• Open to reflective practice and learning as an organisation

• Good linkages with local, regional and national stakeholders

• Long-term funding arrangements with government bodies are underpinned by Service Level Agreements
